Ada is a multimedia format that deals with the important issues of the future. Initiated by Miriam Meckel (previously publisher of Handelsblatt), the project focuses on the scientific, economic and social aspects of future trends and developments.
Ada is available as a live event, a podcast, a weekly briefing and a magazine for which we created the design direction.
Some shots from our test printing dummies that we tested with potential readers of the magazine.
We have tested different cover designs, as well as our colour concept, where each cover comes with a two-colour design for more variety. The logo was provided by the client.
We also gathered opinions on new storytelling formats and incorporated them into our iterations.
The first issue
In the design direction phase we focused very much on nailing the right feeling. Ada stands for an optimistic attitude towards technology and future issues. That’s why we worked a lot with friendly, bright colours for backgrounds and the general photo style. The same applies to the chosen font, which creates a beautiful contrast of round curves and pointed edges.
We rounded off the design direction with a varied layout that knows how to surprise and can be used flexibly. For us, it was especially great to see how the Ada team poured our direction into the first issue and how the stories became reality as a result.
